The build-up — silence before the storm
The tear-down — when it's all over
Beer on tap, not xenophobia — cheers!

Lanterns in the evening sky — atmosphere no one else would see
To me, the camera has always been more than a device — it's a way of seeing. What began as a childhood passion became a lifelong companion. Since 1999, I've used wetta.ch to document what moves me: moments, moods, people.
From 2002 to 2009 I served as the official festival photographer for OpenAir St. Gallen, one of Switzerland's most important music festivals, where I also led the photo team. In my first year Daniel Ammann took me under his wing and showed me the Sittertobel. At the Clanx Festival I held the same role from 2003 to 2012. My aim was never simply to document the bands, but to capture the full rhythm of a festival: the build-up in the silence before it all begins, the quiet of the tear-down once it's over — and in between, as many unique moments and atmospheres as possible that no one else would see.
Fire and sparks in the Appenzell night — the kind of moment that won't happen twice
During the summers in between I photographed smaller festivals and accompanied bands on tour. In the city of St. Gallen, between 1999 and 2021, I documented a part of its subculture — places like the Tankstell Bar, Kugl, Lego Bar, Abbruchhaus, Frohegg, and many more.
And one nameless garage: on weekdays, a few young guys worked on their cars there — but over time the meeting place grew into something larger, deeper, more human. On weekends, the cars rolled out and the space transformed into an improvised party venue: DJs, live acts, a fair bar, and entry disguised as a club membership fee. Not entirely official, deep in the subculture — and unforgettable for precisely that reason.
Quiet before the rave — the bar at rest
At the end of 2012 I was asked whether I'd like to take over the Tankstell Bar. I hesitated — an adventure like that, alone? Fortunately a colourful band of big-hearted people said yes alongside me. Together we founded the cooperative TankstellBar and opened our doors on the 14th of February 2013 — Valentine's Day, as it should be. What followed were ten years on the edge of legality: concerts, parties, and above all raves. Weekend after weekend. True to the motto: rave and let rave. Ten years full of moments, images and people dancing through the night in every colour. It was an honour and a deep joy to have been part of that collective.
It was a wonderful time.
